Happy October and Welcome to Expat-Video's Xanga Page!

Our New Releases page has been updated with a lot of new titles, including Baghdad ER (it should be required viewing for everyone in the Bush Administration and every Democrat who voted for the War in Iraq), The Best of Mr. Bean, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure

(funnier than the 2006 remake of the original classic!), "The Dick Cavett Show - Hollywood Greats" (wonderful interviews!), Akira Kurosawa's rarely seen The Quiet Duel, Etsuko "Sue" Shihomi's ass-kickin' Sister Streetfighter series, new episodes of "Seinfeld" and the original 1966 classic "Ultraman," with audio in both English and Japanese (with English subtitles!)

Halloween is just around the corner, and in addition to new releases like Count Dracula's Great Love, Kaneto Shindo's Kuroneko, the cult British horror film Raw Meat ("Mind the gap!"), and a fun Mexican horror double bill of Curse of the Doll People / Night of the Bloody Apes, I'm happy to report we've got lots more coming, from Universal's "Inner Sanctum Mysteries" to Dario Argento's Suspiria and the Canadian cult classic Visiting Hours. And don't forget about such seasonal perennials as Kwaidan, Universal and Hammer's Frankenstein and Dracula movies, and our line-up of horror films from Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Brazil, and more!

We're working on trying to give our customers a third payment option. Besides PayPal and Japan Post, whattya think about adding an option to accept Visa and Mastercard? We're looking into it right now, so let us know what you think!

I wanted to extend an invitation to everyone here to visit our new site:

Expat-Video

It's a DVD rental-by-mail service specifically geared for temporary and permanent residents of Japan who want to see Japanese movies with English subtitles, as well as other foreign languages and Hollywood movies and TV shows.

I think this is a really good resource as it provides native English speakers access to one facet of Japanese culture (the movies of Kurosawa, Ozu, etc.) otherwise pretty much unavailable here, as most Japanese DVDs of Japanese movies unfortunately don't offer English subtitles. We ship from Hokkaido to Okinawa, even if you live on some tiny little island far from the nearest video store.

Anyway, I hope you'll give the site a visit. And thank you for taking the time to read this!
